CIRCULAR KNITTING NEEDLES, 5 1/2” long in sizes 6 thru 17, chubby polyelhylene coated twisted stainless steel cables (these will not kink dervishly - they lie quietly at all times like exhausted puppies) in 4” increments from 24” to 60”. Guaranteed joins, long, tapered rear connection area for mimimal yarn transer problems. Each pair comes with a trimmed, grosgrain case in black (black for elegance) and a card describing its care. Please specify tips [regular (rounded) or lace (pointy, almost but not quite stiletto) and desired over-all tip-to-tip distance.
  • Pair of circliar needles, in ribbon case $45
  • Two pair of circliar needles, in ribbon cases $85

STRAIGHT KNITTING NEEDLES are available from size 8 thru size 19 in 10”, 12”, and 14” functional lengths with either a 1” or 3” intricately turned, decorative tops. Each needle is turned exactly to size and the tips are slightly hollow-ground. Sizes 8 and 10 are the most popular for most work. In making scarves the 10” length is used, usually in sizes 11, 13, or 15, but this varies because thicker, warmer scarves, as compared to fashion, decorative scarves, are more tightly knit, usually on 10” needles in size 8, 10 or 10.5. Purchases of the wrong size be cheerfully exchanged. Cocobolo is one of the most durable woods there but sizes below 10 mm are a bit fragile; all needles are unconditionally guaranteed not to break in use.

  • Set 4 pair 10” needles, 1” or 3” tops, in case. $140, $205

CROCHET HOOKS, in a modified Boye style, with a flat place for the finger and intricate turnings at the top, available in three lengths to accommidate any hand size and grip, and available from sizes F thru S. The size of each hook is engraved on its side. As a guide to those giving them as gifts: a size G is generally the most versatile and is the hook most commonly used, followed by H; J is the most popular afghan hook and F is for baby things. Sizes larger than L are used to make open, loosely woven pieces using specialty yarns (often scarves), when working more than one strand at a time (when blending multiple silk ribbons) and when hooking strips of fabric in rug making. We make a 17.5 cm (6 5/8”) length for those with smaller hands and/or a preference for a shorter hook, a 19.5 cm ( 7 1/2”) length, which is the most popular and which will be the length sent unless another length is specifically requested, and a 21 cm (8 1/4”) length in sizes larger than L for those working very thick yarn and/or using a “knife”grip on the hook. The set of six hooks below will contain sizes F thru K unless L thru Q is specifically requested.
  • Single crochet hook in ribbon case. $35
  • Set of two hooks in ribbon case. $65
  • Set of three hooks in ribbon case. $95
  • Set of six hooks in a brocade case trimmed with silk. $175
STEEL CROCHET HOOKS are used with very fine gague yarns and threads when adorning existing work (often with beads), when doing cruel-work and when doing free-form, creative work in a very tight weave. TUNISIAN, OR AFGHAN, CROCHET HOOKS, are crochet hooks with a very long column, very much like a knitting needle but with a hook at the end. Note that the Tunisian Crochet stitch is very different from the Afghan Crochet stitch even though the hook used in both has the same configuration.
  • 12” long + 2” intricate turnings, sizes H thru Q, in ribbon case. $45
  • Set 4 tunisian hooks, in case. $175

BULLION, OR ROLL, HOOKS have an extended throat area that is dimensioned to the size of the hook to allow multiple yarn-overs to be cast on, and the gullet of the hook is relatively closed so the first stitch stays in place while the yarn-overs are cast off. Available in the 7 1.2” length in sizes F thru Q, sizes G and H, followed by size J, are the most popular.
  • One, two or three bullion hooks, in ribbon case. $40, $75, $105
  • Set of six bullion hooks in brocade case, in case. $200

SPINDLES: these twirling dervishes have both cocobolo whorls and shafts, a single (rear) notch, and a shepard’s hook of hand-formedbrass. Each whorl has been carefully calibrated to balance and each spindle comes with a card giving its weight and care.

Pricing

To simplify this nascent web effort the pricing below is a partial list:

Special Orders

Don’t hesitate to contact us if we can make a FiberArt tool exactly to your specifications. Note that we’re often asked to do a thicker diameter crochet hook handle, which we call a “tubby”, and which is easier for some people to grip. Special order shapes and sizes might take about a month to do, depending on our workload.

Unconditional Guarantee

If you are unhappy with any piece for any reason we will refund your money. It’s common to need to go down one size in the needles because the wood feels quite different in the hand from plastic or metal and one tens to knit more loosely. We’ve pretty confident in our work but if something is not right we need to learn to fix it.

Rosewood is one of the strongest woods there is but the smaller sized tools are a bit fragile; all our tools are guaranteed against breakage during use. Monies for any piece found to be unsatisfactory for any reason will be refunded - just return the work to us with a note on why the piece is not satisfactory and we will promptly reimburse you.
